The Nolita Location of Taim Opened Today

Einat Admony's passion for hospitality and Middle Eastern flavors was first introduced to the city in 2007, when she opened Taim Falafel and Smoothie Bar in the West Village.  In spring of 2010, Admony opened Balaboosta on Mulberry Street and furthered her reputation as excellent chef and gracious host.  Tonight, Nolita gets its serving of falafel with the long-awaited opening of Taim at 45 Spring Street.

Taim Nolita had its soft opening for friends and family last night and officially opened to the public today at 10am.  The Nolita location has extended hours.  Taim on Waverly Place is open from 11am - 10pm daily, while the Nolita location on the corner of Spring and Mulberry is open from 10am - 11pm Sunday through Wednesday and 10am - 1am Thursday through Saturday.

Andrew Carmellini's The Library is Open

The Library opened on the mezzanine level of Lafayette Street's Public Theater Tuesday night at 5:30.  It's the first to open from our Taste of Tastes to Come list and the new collaborative project from Andrew Carmellini, Luke Ostrom, and Joe's Pub proves to be a modern, jazzy, speak easy with the help of a World War II era jazz soundtrack and $14 cocktails from Tiffany Short.  Six draft beers are on offer at $6 each and a three act menu offers food under the direction of Carmellini.  Act I gives you options like pizza popcorn with Parmigiano ($5), Peekytoe crab rolls ($10 for 2), and French fries with malt vinegar mayo ($8).  Act II has roasted beets, grapefruit, goat cheese, and pistachio ($12), and a kale salad that might join the ranks of Battersby and Northern Spy Co. in the world of supreme kale salads.  The Library's version has Vermont Cheddar and Marcona almonds ($13).  Act III includes Joe's Burger with carmelized onions, bacon, and cheddar ($17), and Catskill Moutain Trout with lentils and butternut squash ($24).

Three sparkling options, four whites, and four reds make up the wine by the glass options.  The champagne heavy sparkling section and white wine in the form of Sancerre, viognier, riesling, and Chablis provide a thorough tour of France while the eleven reds on offer cover five different countries and range from $45 to $110.  See the full food and drink menu here.

The Pines. Tonight. 6pm. Be There.

The highly anticipated new project from the fellows behind Littleneck is opening tonight at 6pm.  The Pines is located at 284 3rd Ave, just two storefronts down from Littleneck, Aaron Lefkove and Andy Curtain's New England-style seafood shack at 288 3rd Ave.  If Littleneck is "of the sea," Lefkove has said, The Pines will be "of the land."  Chef Angelo Romano, formerly of Roberta's, Lupa, and the shortlived Williamsburg hit Maston Lake, has created a concise menu of dishes like squash with house made tofu, smoked tomato, and bottarga, and cavatelli with trotter ragu.  Here's a few pictures of the backyard and bar, chairs were up when we were there but Eater got some great shots of the place all setup and ready for service.

Pok Pok Ny Now Open Seven Days a Week

Pok Pok's garden, get tiki with itAndy Ricker's East Coast Pok Pok outpost opened in Cobble Hill just shy of two months ago.  Starting tonight, according to a facebook post last Friday, the restaurant will be serving dinner seven nights a week.  The hours switched around a bit "to reflect the habits of the neighborhood."  Pok Pok NY is now open from 5:30pm to 10:30pm, lunch service is still TBD.

Waits are still to be expected, but much less severe now that the restaurant is open seven days and the garden is in full swing around back.  The garden has an extra 30 seats or so and guests can order drinks and hang out while they wait for a table either in the main dining room or the garden itself.

T R O T N

The Roof Of The Nomad (TROTN) is launching dinner service tonight.  Turns out, it's called The Nomad Rooftop and, as of this morning, you can make same day reservations to "sit under the stars and have an ultra-refined meal," as Will Guidara mentions in an interview with Eater.

Operating a restaurant that is exposed to the elements provides an interesting set of circumstances for Daniel Humm (Chef) and Will Guidara (GM), the managing partners in Eleven Madison Park, The Nomad, and now The Nomad Rooftop.  "It's weather dependent," Mr. Humm says, "you have to prep in advance, even if you end up not opening. It's a headache in many ways."

The alfresco dinner comes in the form of a six-course tasting for $125.  "We're starting off with a menu that has a dish of tomatoes, some bread with tomatoes. We will serve a tomato soda with it that comes in a custom-made soda bottle that the guest will have to open."

The Rooftop experience is stamped with the Guidara Guarantee: "We know that the way to get a reservation here is a pain in the ass, and I'm sorry to the dining public for that. But we couldn't think of a better way to do it, and we will work to make it so it is worth your while"

There is a cupola on The Nomad Rooftop that will "ultimately become a private dining room."  It seats ten and can be booked like any other table.  It's also enclosed, so it'll be open year round.

Blue Bottle Coffee Pours Over to Rock Center

That's one small step for man, one giant leap for Midtown coffee culture.
