Justin Warner Talks About Being the Next Food Network Star

Justin Warner became the next Food Network star two weeks ago.  Voting was left open to the public and it voted 4.5 million strong in favor of the Bed-Stuy food wiz.  Employee's at his restaurant Do or Dine all wore "Team Alton" T-shirts during the voting period.  Bed Stuy Patch got ahold of Justin to talk about his new path. 

“I didn’t really think I was gonna win in all honesty, because I do weird stuff, and I didn’t know for sure that America was ready,” Warner told Bed-Stuy Patch. “But what I’m really excited about is, because it came down to a national vote, it’s really an endorsement of America than it is of myself.

Filming dates for the new show haven't been revealed but shooting will definitely start sooner than later.  The show is set to premiere this fall.

Justin Warner of inventive Bed-Stuy restaurant Do or Dine is one of the final contestants on this season of Food Network Star.  You might be part of the camp that thinks the network is food blasphemy, but if that doesn't stop you from supporting the Maryland native whose made an incredible name for himself as a self taught chef and "the only boy to get A's in sewing and food preparation" in home ec, head on over the Food Networks website and vote for him.  Voting ends tomorrow at 5pm.

In the Year Two Thousand and Four

Remember 2004?  Lance Armstrong won his 6th Tour de France, fox hunting got outlawed in the UK, Martha Stewart was sentenced to five months in prison, Janet Jackson's nipple fell out of her shirt, and David Chang opened Momofuku Noodle Bar.  To celebrate the latter, Bed-Stuy's Do or Dine chef Justin Warner is recreating the original menu from when Noodle Bar opened in the summer of '04.

Do or Dine turns one on Sunday, June 3rd, and Justin will be recreating DC's original Noodle Bar menu for the occasion.  Chang doesn't have anything to do with the event, but it'll still be worth the trek out to 1108 Bedford Ave for $7 shredded pork ramen and $3 cans of PBR.  Happy Birthday, Noodle Dine.
