Wing Week: Part III

Jamar White and Ronald Lee are the owners of Buffalo Boss on Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Their store is a quick-serve wing joint proudly serving organic, hormone free wings that have become "The official wings of the Brooklyn Nets." Jay-Z is Jamar White's cousin, and the H to the Izzo has a (fistful of dollars) hand in the operation. White explains, "Jay-Z's involvement in the business is excellent. I'm his first cousin and we grew up together. He's like my older brother and so he supports me in everything that I do. When I told him about the wing concept, the location we had, and the vision for it, he's a good business man, so he was like, 'Let's do it.'"

The wings are only offered to go, but there are a few stools that allow you to enjoy them onsite, which is what we recommend if you're looking for that classic Buffalo Wing crunch. There are roughly a dozen sauces available to dress the wings. And while guests are invited to mix and match, we stick to the hot (original Buffalo style) for it's true-to-form flavor.

The "hot" at Buffalo Boss is a touch heavy on the butter, but it's also a bit spicier than most, so the combination balances itself out. We also like that Buffalo Boss doesn't bother with the carrots – just celery, wings, and creamy, housemade Boss Blue Cheese. When you maintain a diet of chicken wings and coffee like we did putting Wing Week together, it's nice to be able to order six wings ($6.50) at a time.
